COLINE Research Showcased at the World Smart City Expo 2026 in Busan

Riccardo Di Clemente, leader of COLINE's Italian research team, took part in the World Smart City Expo (WSCE) 2026, held on 9–11 September in Busan, South Korea. The international event brought together researchers, policymakers and industry representatives to explore the future of urban innovation.

As part of the Expo's Urban AI Summit, Riccardo chaired the panel “Decoding Urban Complexity with AI” on 10 September. Hosted by the ISI Foundation, the panel explored how AI and data-driven approaches can help decode urban complexity, bringing together perspectives on the physical environment, land use, urban perception and human mobility.

The event also provided an opportunity to showcase research related to the DUT-COLINE project. At the ISI Foundation's exhibition stand, COLINE was featured through the Amenity Space research, highlighting how the spatial distribution and composition of urban amenities can be analysed to better understand accessibility and mobility patterns.

These topics are closely connected to COLINE's research on the relationships between neighbourhood amenities, mobility patterns and urban accessibility, with the aim of supporting more inclusive and sustainable cities.

Riccardo's participation and the exhibition presence helped introduce COLINE's research to an international audience working at the intersection of urban science, data analytics and urban innovation.
