How can decision-makers identify where a new school, supermarket, healthcare facility or public transport connection is most urgently needed? A study co-authored by Riccardo Di Clemente, leader of the Italian work package in DUT-COLINE, addresses this question by mapping access to essential services in marginal areas of Piedmont. The research was featured by the Turin edition of Corriere della Sera on 19 July 2026.

On 18 June 2026, the Hungarian DUT-COLINE team met with Budapest stakeholders to discuss the project’s progress, exchange insights on data-driven urban mobility research and identify opportunities for further cooperation. The meeting was hosted by BKK Centre for Budapest Transport at its premises in Budapest. Alongside representatives of BKK and the COLINE research team, the guests were experts from Magyar Telekom, mobility data provider for the project, and data scientists from the Municipality of Budapest.

The DUT Knowledge Hub has published a new collection of perspectives and project findings entitled Planned for Everyone, Working for Few: Five Hard Truths about Active Travel in 2026. The publication brings together insights from five DUT projects working on active mobility and the 15-minute city across Europe, including COLINE.

Researchers from Austria, Hungary, Italy, France and Denmark gathered in Vienna for the annual DUT-COLINE consortium meeting hosted by Central European University. The meeting combined stakeholder discussions with scientific presentations on urban mobility, neighbourhood accessibility, and new data-driven approaches to understanding the 15-minute city.

Four presentations connected to the DUT-COLINE project showcased the latest research on urban mobility, accessibility, and spatial inequalities at the GeoInno 2026 – 8th Geography of Innovation Conference held at Corvinus University of Budapest in January 2026.

On 6 November 2025, DUT-COLINE coordinator Balázs Lengyel presented our work at the conference “Városi életminőség és közlekedés” (Urban Quality of Life and Transport) in Budapest. His talk, “Közösségi közlekedés a 15-perces városban” (Public transport in the 15-minute city) showed how DUT-COLINE uses mobility data to understand and improve everyday accessibility in European cities.

The research of the Italian COLINE partners, titled „Time-space dynamics of income segregation in the city of Milan” combines big data and urban science. It has reached a wider audience thanks to the recent news coverage in the Italian newspapers "La Repubblica" and "Avvenire".

On September 29th, prior to the DUT Kick-off in Milan, DUT-COLINE coordinator Balázs Lengyel and Riccardo Di Clemente from the ISI Foundation, work package leader in the project, met with Emmanuele Strano, Director of MindEarth, to explore opportunities for collaboration.

The recent workshop on complex systems and human mobility provided an inspiring forum for advancing research and exploring how mobility data connects to urban equity and AI.

On 3 September, COLINE joined an online DUT Knowledge Hub event, which brought together projects from the 2023 call to exchange ideas and approaches. The Knowledge Hubs are designed to help projects build on their results and foster collaboration around the 15-Minute City (15mC) concept.
